Sell cigarettes????

I was job hunting this few days but still couldn't find any. So I decided to call a friend which work with me last year (last 3 months semester break). I called her two times but there was no answer. So I gave up and continue my job hunting. About an hour later, she called back. I was surprised though, as we didnt contact each other for about a year already. So anyway i just answer the phone.

Me: Hello?
She: Hello just now you called me ah?
Me: (surprised why she spoke in english) Yup. Ni hai ji de wo ma? qu nian he ni yi qi zhuo promoter de?( Do you still remember me? The one who worked with you last year as promoter?)

She: (Still speaking in english) Aha. Why?
Me: (Felt weird so switch to english) Hmm. Are you still working for XXX company?
She: Nope. Why?
Me: Nah, I am looking for part time job, so...
She: (Interrupt me) Oh you are having semester break now? I have a job in hand now. Are you interested? Sell cigarettes you know? Work 4 hours for RM 70, this wednesday from 8am to 12pm.

Me: (Huh?? Sell cigarettes!!!??) Sell cigarettes? So what do I suppose to do?
She: You dont have to approach customers to say anything, just have to sit at the counter and wait for the customers to come. When they come to buy, maybe you can, say, "Oh this is the latest brand. Do you want to have a try" If they dont want to buy the latest brand then nevermind lo.

Me: ( Huh? Its like encouraging people to smoke!) I see. I will think about it first and I will inform you later lo. Is it ok?
She: Ok no problem. By the way, what is your name again ah? I cant remember.
Me: (Huh??? If you dont remember, why do you call me back..) Oh. Wan chying lo.
She: Oh. You. Ok. Then bye.
Me: Bye.


Really shes a bit odd!! I do sometimes wonder whether she calls back numbers she doesnt know! And I wonder whether she only speaks English in the phone and speaks chinese on the outside. Yes, last year she called me before working time and i thought shes a banana. But when I meet her in the place where we work; i was just gonna open my mouth to speak English when she starts asking me something in chinese == Whatever.

By the way, the answer for her 'kind' offer was a big NO. And later i sms-ed her saying I couldnt help her on Wednesday. But I told my dad anyway to see what reaction he has. Sure enough, he replied, "WHAT!!!??? Sell cigarettes? No way!!". And I answered with a grin saying "Ok dad"

I didnt ask my mum as i knew her reaction will be the same. Hahaha...
Well I told my sister and brother too and they answered:

"WHAT?? Siao ah??? Sell cigarettes....=.="
